Herbalist & Alchemist, the brand behind herbal products formulated by David Winston, registered herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild, has introduced a new Lion’s Mane formula, featuring extracts from both the mycelium and fruiting body of Hericium erinaceus.

The unique blend is made by combining two very different extracts of different parts of the fungus, each one made with its own specific concentration and menstruum.

Studies on lion’s mane suggest that there are two groups of active constituents, from the mushroom and mycelium, respectively, which may contribute to cognitive support benefits. Erinacines are found in the mycelia, while hericenones are found in the fruiting body of the fungus. The mushroom extract comes from organically grown lion’s mane mushrooms, while the mycelium extract is sourced locally. The blended extract presents a full spectrum of bioactive compounds from the well-studied fungus.
